Just wondering if any fellow luthier or wanabee luthier (like me) lives in the Southern California area? Would love to meet someone around here

I'm in Torrance and am still waiting on my first build. It seems like time, money, space, skill, and the wife won't let me start quite yet. However, in July I will be attending the Hana Lima 'Ia Ukulele building school. They provide instruction, tools, wood, space, ETC. to allow me my first built of any kind. They are very nice people too. Funny, my wife never turns down a trip to Hawaii even if its something for me.

My family left me at the Beach in Torrance. But I found them.

True story, I was five years old. We had an aunt and uncle who lived there, still do. Geeze, that was 49 years ago.

Who said the word Dinosaur, huh, who said that?

Three carloads of kids and I got left. An uncle heard the cops on his shortwave radio sending out comments. My aunt's house was around the corner from the police station.

Hey, we were there a few years back on July the Fourth, man does Torrance know how to put on a fireworks display. Wow, it was awesome.

Know what you mean. Come April 2nd we will be the same age. The thing I hate is everyone seems to look younger and younger. Maybe the worst though is watching the news or reading the paper and seeing someone who either looks really old or who is dead and then you find out they were younger than you.

I live in North County San Diego, Vista to be exact. I'd love to play someone else's guitars and have mine played for some feed back as far as design and tone and stuff. I live in a musical vacumm. Anyone nearby?

Larry

You might search for Southern California Luthiers Association. I'm thinking they were in San Diego. Or ring up Bob Taylor or Kurt Listug and go visit them at Taylor. Lots of folks do. I tried, unfortunately it was a holiday long weekend and we went there on Friday.

Also, go to www.guitarmaker.org and search for California luthiers, you'll find some there.
